Earlier this month, Reuters reported that over 1,000 shipments of solar energy components, valued in the hundreds of millions of dollars, have been blocked in U.S. ports under enforcement of UFLPA. ROTH said in August that as much as 3 GW had been held in Customs since the law was enacted.
In August this year, reports emerged that the United States of America's Customs and Border Protection Agency (CBP) had detained nearly US $43 billion worth shipments of electronics equipment – more specifically solar panels – from India since October 2023.
CBP has previously said that it had detained about 1,700 shipments worth $516.3 million under UFLPA through September but has never before detailed how many of those shipments contained solar equipment. The EU has also proposed a ban on products from Xinjiang but has not implemented one.
